The stench of sanitizer and blinding white lights are an overwhelming experience, alone in an exam room waiting for a routine checkup. Clean and organized it was a cut from a different cloth than what you’d normally find anywhere in Hydaelyn compared to any of your normal conjurors and chirurgeons. Magitek appliances and various medications were abundant in her workspace, and then, the subtle sound of scratching. A thick Yanxian country accent followed with a series of whispered swears from behind the curtain, a ticket fell to the floor in view labeled Manderville Golden Saucer. Immediately after another swear erupted without any filter as she swept aside the curtain, the corners of her lips fixed into a grin as she looped the mask over her ears. Then came the gloves in an orderly fashion as she introduced herself in a melodic and fluent common, “Good morning, Doctor Hinoki, it's a pleasure. What seems to be the problem?”

Professional Physician

Haru is a professional in her field as a physician and chirurgeon. Specializing in more traumatic care for more dire straights she is surprisingly quite good at what she does. Despite her misgivings, she has been hailed as one of the best practitioners in the East with a mighty reputation behind her. A tale of rags to riches as she studied in Hingan universities which can hold a candle to the North's vaunted Sharlayan.

Gluttonous Gambler

G-Golden Saucer? A gambler's paradise you can consider it her second home. Frequenting the Ul'dahn deserts she would be commonly seen there against her better judgement. When not there, she may have a proclivity towards betting, spare change, and playing cards. She'll find a way to raise the stakes.

Monetary Medicine

Haru was an esteemed professor giving lectures regularly at universities having hundreds of students at a time. Aside from selling her services as a physician, Haru also has made a small business selling potions. Proficient in alchemy, she works in the higher levels of refinement when given the proper supplies and resources. Just make sure they come with labels.

Aspiring Apprentice

A few close calls in Kugane raised the question for her to expand her skillset, and so when she had arrived in Eorzea she began looking into some methods of self defense. Naturally spending time in Ul'dah she caught wind of the Thamaturges' Guild where she is learning some rudimentary skills. Having her work cut out for her there may be a need for a guiding hand.

Fleet Footed

Escaping from the East she fled to Eorzea to avoid an onslaught of debt collectors ranging from colleagues, students, and Yakuza loan sharks. While she is surely intent on paying each individual back, she would like to kindly request an extension. Surely, she won't run away, this time, right?

History

Yanxia

Haru was born in Juyama, a rural Yanxian village far into the mountain ranges. The small town was destitute in terms of wealth, but it was a common stop for pilgrims who were traveling further up the cliffside to Rokuharamitsuji, a monastery at the peak. Her father a miner in the local copper mines who slaved away with a pickaxe during the day and a bottle at night. Her mother a seamstress with dreams of grandeur, fixated on making it big as her mediocre crafts would travel to the city. The two never paid much attention to the child they bore, acting far more like a maid or help she’d spend most of her time elsewhere. The bruises would heal, but the resentment towards her parents would not.Haru had spent most her time outside the house for obvious reasons, frequenting the house of her neighbors and their unborn child she found herself an escape. Then, the child Niina was born who she would fawn over. Still determined to escape from her circumstances she saved whatever bits of Gil that she could; however, it was never enough, and so she learned how to double it. Travelers were few and far between in the village of Juyama, and so she would learn how to gamble in her youth. Earnest as she was, she never played any tricks keeping a lockbox of Gil she’d accrue before springing a plan to leave the Village.

Kugane

The time had come and she left her old life behind at the age of 18 with a heavy heart, but she sought out Kugane. Free from Garlean rule under neutrality and new beginnings she used the funds to gamble again. Losses came frequently, but she made enough ultimately decided to put herself through school taking a learned path. What better way to make Gil than the prestigious career of a chirurgeon? With a smile on her face and greed in her heart she took scalpel in one hand and a stethoscope in the other.Haru’s reputation took flight, often taking many of the more difficult jobs, not out of duty, but because they paid well. A physician for more impoverished groups she had good standing socially where she even sent funds back to Juyama to Niina and her mother. She also shepherded up and coming chirugeons being known as Professor Hinoka or Professor Cypress in Western spheres of influence. Paid handsomely for her endeavors it was a trickle for the latter half of her life which made her infamous for her problem.She was a revered, established, and successful chirurgeon, but her addiction ran rampant and she found herself without a means of paying off debt collectors in Kugane. Then her adventures in Eorzea began, new horizons and an escape from her more nefarious reputation in the East she sought the West to escape the tendrils of Yakuza loan sharks. Having found stable work at Ruby Sea Exports she is working to repay her debt under the protection of Madam East.
